(BIVDA) - Diagnostics in Healthcare is a regular news update on the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry published by BIVDA for parliamentarians. The IVD industry researches and manufactures tests used for the early detection or diagnosis of disease, screening for disease predisposition, and the monitoring of treatment and disease management.

In this issue we focus on the use of IVD tests for stratifying medicines, ensuring that they are used only in the most appropriate circumstances to derive maximum benefit for patients.

ecently, the Lords Science and Technology Committee produced a fascinating report into the use of genomic medicine, particularly the use of IVD tests for targeting medicines based on genetic information. Please see inside for further detail on this report.

BIVDA will be working closely with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, the Technology Strategy Board and the Medical Research Council on an initiative for stratified medicine in the coming months.
